Aitor Gametxo Zabala (Lekeitio (Bizkaia), España, 15/05/1989) es cineasta y docente. Su trabajo se caracteriza por la exploración de lo desconocido y sus intereses incluyen, entre otros, la relación y los límites entre la mirada, la memoria, la ficción y la representación. Formado en Comunicación Audiovisual en Bilbao y con un Máster en Documental Creativo por la UAB, ha dirigido desde 2014 cortometrajes y proyectos en solitario o en colaboración. Entre sus obras destacan «Bere bizitzetako bat», «Cicha Symfonia», «Hemen. Gaur. Berriz» y «Berak baleki». En 2021, este último fue seleccionado para el catálogo Kimuak. Ha sido beneficiario de ayudas y becas como el Premio X-Films del Festival Punto de Vista (2014), la residencia artística Joan-Etorriak del Proyecto de Capitalidad Europeo DSS2016 (2016) y el premio Injuve a la Creación Joven (2016). Su obra se ha mostrado en festivales internacionales y centros culturales de referencia como Zinebi, Oberhausen, MECAL, Punto de Vista, Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes, etc.
Aitor Gametxo Zabala (Lekeitio (Bizkaia), Spain, 05/15/1989) is a filmmaker and educator. His work is characterized by the exploration of the unknown and his interests include, among others, the connection and boundaries between gaze, desire, memory, fiction and representation. Trained in Audiovisual Communication in Bilbao and holding a Master’s degree in Creative Documentary from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), he has been directing short films and projects both solo and in collaboration since 2014. Among his works are «One of His Lives», «Silent Symphony», «Here. Today. Again» y «If They Knew», which, in 2021, was selected for the Kimuak catalog. He has been awarded grants and fellowships including the X-Films Award from the Punto de Vista Festival (2014), the Joan-Etorriak artistic residency of the European Capital of Culture project DSS2016 (2016), and the Injuve Award for Young Creation (2016). His work has been showcased at international festivals and major cultural venues such as Zinebi, Oberhausen, MECAL, Punto de Vista, the Festival du Cinéma Espagnol de Nantes, among others.
