Gwai Lou (Cáceres, España, 19/10/1982). Gwai Lou (鬼佬) significa «demonio extranjero», es una jerga cantonesa para referirse a los occidentales. La gente lo llamó así en broma cuando llegó a Malasia y ahora es como se llama a sí mismo. Es cineasta no como profesión, sino como una forma de enfrentarse a su propia vida, hace películas como prueba de que ha vivido. Ha dirigido los largometrajes «Somewhere Over the Rainbow» (2022), «Desaparecer» (2020), «Side-B» (2017) y «Many Pieces of Something» (2015). «Kumbang» es su octavo cortometraje como director, después de «Anomaly» (2021), «The New World» (2021), «Target» (2020), «Reset» (2020), «The Girls Are Alright» (2019), «Wounds» (2019) y «The Wanderer» (2007).
