Homo Homini Lupus

Cristóbal Arteaga Rozas (Santiago de Chile, Chile, 07/06/1979). En 2006 estudia guion en la Universidad Católica de Chile y en 2008 y 2009 gana el fondo de desarrollo de guion de Chile con los proyectos de largometraje «Manual de instrucciones para olvidar» y «Te invito a mi funeral». En 2011 se traslada a vivir a Madrid, donde estudia dirección y guión en el Instituto del Cine de Madrid. En 2013 escribe, dirige y produce «El triste olor de la carne», que se estrena en la sección Forum of Independents de Karlovy Vary. Ese mismo año gana la sección «Resistencias» y el premio Fipresci del Festival de Cine Europeo de Sevilla y una mención especial de actuación en el Ourense Film Festival. A finales de 2013 gana una beca para participar en el laboratorio de guion Ibermedia Cinefilia de Colombia, con su proyecto «Te invito a mi funeral». Dirige «Faro sin isla» (2014), estrenado en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón, y «Ave y nada» (2015), estrenado también en Gijón y Cineuropa, entre otros. Estrena su cuarto largometraje en 2016, titulado «La declaración de los objetos», y ese mismo año recibe el premio de industria por el guion de «Te invito a mi funeral» en el Festival de Cine de Viña del Mar. En 2019 estrena su quinto largometraje, «As mortes», en el Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón. «Homo Homini Lupus» es su sexta película como director y guionista.

In 2006, he studied script writing at Universidad Católica de Chile and since then he has written, directed and produced a few feature films. In 2008 and 2009, he won the “Script Development Fund” of Chile with his feature films “Manual de instrucciones para olvidar” (“Instructions to Forget”) and “Te invito a mi funeral” (“Invitation to my Funeral”). In 2011, he moved to Madrid (Spain), where he started his studies as a Director and Screenwriter at the Madrid Film Institute. In 2013, he wrote, directed and produced his first full-length film, “The Sad Smell of Flesh”, which was released in the Forum of Independents of the Karlovy Vary Film Festival. The film also won the “Resistencias” section and the Fipresci Award at the European Film Festival of Seville and received a special mention for acting at Ourense Film Festival. At the end of 2013, he won a scholarship to be part of a screenwriting workshop in the Ibermedia Cinefilia program in Colombia. There he worked on the script of his film “Invitation to my Funeral”. He directed “Faro sin isla” (“A Lighthouse without an Island”) in 2014, which was released at Gijón International Film Festival and “Ave y Nada” (2015), premiered at Gijón International Film Festival and Cineuropa, among others. In 2016, he finished his fourth feature film, “La declaración de los objetos”, and won the Film Industry Award at Viña del Mar International Film Festival for the script of “Invitation to my Funeral”. In 2019 he releases his fifth feature film, “As mortes”, premiered at Gijón IFF. “Homo Homini Lupus” is his sixth film as a writer and director.
