Mabel Lozano (Toledo, España, 28/12/1967). Dedicada al mundo del audiovisual desde 2006, funda la productora Mafalda Entertainment para llevar a cabo sus proyectos comprometidos con los Derechos Humanos y la mujer. Entre otros muchos trabajos, coproduce con New Atlantis el largometraje documental «Voces contra la trata» (2007), «Las sabias de la tribu» con TVE (2010) o «Chicas Nuevas 24 Horas», nominado al Goya 2016 a mejor documental y a los Premios Platino como mejor largometraje iberoamericano, además de múltiples campañas. En 2017 publica su primer libro, «El proxeneta», sobre los amos de la prostitución en España, que se convierte en un documental con el mismo título en 2018 («El proxeneta. Paso corto, mala leche»). Su siguiente cortometraje, «Biografía del cadáver de una mujer» (2020) es un paso más en la denuncia de la prostitución y la desprotección a la que se ven sometidas las mujeres que salen de ella y ganó el Premio Goya a Mejor Cortometraje Documental 2021. «Ava» es su último corto.

Among many other works, she co-produced with New Atlantis the feature-length documentary “Voces contra la trata” (“Voices against human traffic”) (2007), “Las sabias de la tribu” (“The wise women of the Tribe”) with TVE Spain (2010) and “Chicas Nuevas 24 Horas” (“New Girls 24/7”), nominated to the Goya Award 2016 for Best Documentary Film and nominated to Platino Award for Best Iberoamerican Film. In 2017, she published her first book, “The pimp”, about the men behind the prostitution in Spain, which turns into a documentary film with the same title in 2018. “Biography of a woman’s corpse” (original title “Biografía del cadáver de una mujer”, 2020) is another step towards denouncing prostitution and the lack of protection for women who try to escape it, and it won the Goya Award for Best Documentary Short Film. “Ava” is her latest short film as a director.
