María Fontán (Donostia-San Sebastián, España, 18/01/1992) es una cineasta y escritora especializada en queer horror y mitología. Graduada en Dirección Cinematográfica y Nuevos Medios y Guion. Su trabajo ha sido proyectado alrededor del mundo. Su cortometraje «Zerua hautsi zen gaua» (2020) fue la obra inaugural de la 31ª Semana Fantástica y de Terror de San Sebastián. Ha dirigido, además, los cortos «Aún recuerdo su pañuelo de rosas» (2019) y «Burbuila» (2018). «Retrato de familia» es su cuarto cortometraje como directora.
